Ship Bottom, New Jersey

This community is found at the end of Route 72 so everyone that drives to Long Beach Island spends at least a bit of time in Ship Bottom.

2008 Beach Badge Information

Badges are required on the ocean and bay beaches for everyone older than 12 from now (mid June) through September 1, 2008. The rates for badges are:

  • seasonal badge - $35
  • weekly badge - $17, good from Saturday through Friday
  • daily badge - $7
  • senior badge - $3, 65 years young and over (proof of age required, lifetime badge))

Badges can be purchased from the badge checkers at the beach or from the Borough Hall (17th Ave and Long Beach Blvd).

Lifeguards are on duty from 10 AM to 5 PM, daily, through Labor Day.

Surfing is only allowed in lifeguard designated areas during the summer season.

There is no food, alcohol, or pets are allowed on the beach through October 1.

Beach Access

The ocean beach can be accessed from all the streets that end at the beach.

Parking is limited to 1 hour on ocean side streets (exceptions are signed) and is allowed for all day on the bay side streets. Parking also is available between 18th and 22nd Streets.

There is a bay beach at 15th Street, beach badges are also required at this facility.

Restrooms are found at the Borough Hall (17th Ave and Long Beach Blvd) and at the bayside parks (10th through 16th street).
